If you’re looking to take that big leap and get hitched to another, you don’t have to travel to Vegas to make that happen; now you can take that plunge right here in town. Two couples have already done that and on Tuesday, 1/11, John and Nickie, the second to receive their license through the new office are entering the wonderful world of matrimony with Karen Fielding officiating the ceremony.
On Thursday, Jan. 6 Mesquite City Officials along with County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick cut the ribbon on the new County Clerk’s Office which is now located inside Mesquite City Hall.
Santa needs to bring the city a sharpening stone for Christmas this year. The scissors were a little dull and so was the back-up pair but they managed to get it done regardless. After the ribbon was cut a beautiful bouquet courtesy of Front Porch Flowers and Gifts was thrown into the crowd of single women just before cake was served.
The new clerk’s office will be open Wedensday and Thursday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30-11:30 a.m. They will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch and on all legal holidays. Beside the ability to issue marriage licenses, they will also handle Vow Renewal Certificate Insurance, Fictitious Firm Name Filing, Notary Bonds and Oaths. They accept credit or debit cards only-no cash. For further information please view the video of the event below and call the county clerks office at 702-671-0728.
As an aside:
Mesquite Showgirls Becky Boyd and Geni Barton were a beautiful set of bookends flanking all officials and Mesquite’s own Ms. Senior Mesquite/Nevada, Ann Murphy during the actual ribbon cutting. Mesquite Showgirls are always ready and willing to add to their group and if would like to be a part of what they do you can contact them through their facebook page or call 702-345-4088.
