July 15, 1944 ~ February 12, 2022 (age 77)

Bertha Don Thurston, age 77, died Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She was born July 15, 1944 in Mesquite, Nevada to Stephen Orville and Marell Reber Potter.  On January 14, 1961 she married Orson A Thurston in Mesquite, Nevada.  On July 10, 1965 they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. Bertha grew up in Mesquite and raised her family in Las Vegas.  As a young mother she worked as a hairdresser.  Later she worked for the Nevada State Government in insurance claims.  She enjoyed crafting, painting, and quilting. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she enjoyed serving and ministering.  She loved her family and will be remembered as a thoughtful and loyal friend.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters: Steve (Cindylue) of N. Las Vegas, NV; Correna (Ronald) Cooper of Las Vegas, NV; Orson Paul (Richelle) of Spanish Fork, UT; Cynthia (Shawn Coleman) Thurston of Las Vegas, NV; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Yvonne (Walter) Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX and one brother, Woodruff (D’Nee) Potter of Las Vegas, NV.  She was preceded in death by two sisters: Annabeth Jones; Evelyn Yahne; one brother: Lowell Potter; and one grandson: Aaron Cooper.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, Log Cabin Ward, 8755 W. Iron Mountain Road, Las Vegas, Nevada.  Graveside services will be Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Old Mesquite City Cemetery, 301 Hillside Drive, Mesquite, Nevada.  Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at http://www.virginvalleymortuary.com
