Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is requesting community’s assistance in relation to a 1998 Cold Case Homicide. On February 16, 1998, Detectives responded to Highway 91 (Big Bend Area) at approximately milepost 4.4, where a deceased woman was located in the brush east of the highway. The victim was identified as Kris Jake-Moon, 31 of Cedar City, UT. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
Evidence collected from the scene was sent off for examination and interviews were conducted with family members of the victim. Detectives learned that the victim was last seen at the Oasis Casino in Mesquite, NV on Friday, February 13th. Jake-Moon was observed by witnesses leaving the casino with five people; two identified women, an identified male subject, and two unidentified male suspects. Surveillance video from the casino was reviewed and Jake-Moon can be seen with one of the unidentified male suspects and both unidentified men can be seen in another image leaving the business. One man is seen wearing a cowboy hat, while the other is seen wearing a very distinguishable jacket. Attached photos are what investigators believe the jacket may look like.
SIU is seeking any information on the identities of the two unknown male suspects seen leaving the casino with the victim. Both men were described as Hispanic and frequented the casino. SIU is also looking for two of the identified subjects seen leaving the casino with the victim. Darrel Calvin Drye Jr. and Rosealia Bushhead are being sought for questioning regarding the incident.
