Washington County News March 13, 1909

Bunkerville, NV March 13-The relief society intended on giving a missionary benefit party, on March 17. The will be a program first then dancing to conclude the evening. A lunch stand will also be one of the main features of the evening where homemade beer, cake and pie will be sold.

Stephen Bunker and daughters Caddie and Josie leave for their ranch at Grass Valley on March 16 for the summer.

Lena Leavitt is improving the looks of her home by giving it a coat of paint on the outside and wallpaper inside.

Sheriffs Maxwell and Perkins of Overton came over yesterday after a man who had run away with a stolen horse.

Orange and Ira Earl are just in from Gold Butte where they have been working.

Orange Earl, wife and mother-in-law are going on a visit to Overton in the morning.

Bishop Earl and daughter Nettie have gone to attend a conference in St. George.

The Y.M.M.I.A. finished the last lesson in their manual last evening.

Albert Leavitt is real sick again with his old complaint in his back.

Conrad Naegle has gone to DeLamar with a load of grain.

 

Washington County News March 14, 1909

Littlefield, AZ, March 14- Our trees are out in bloom and the lucern is six inches high. Cottonwood leaves are 1/3 grown. Early gardens are up and looking well, peas are about four inches high.

C.M. Peterson and his family have moved here from Moapa, Nevada to make this their future home. We welcome them as we like to have more families come to live here.

Joseph H. Reber left on the 9th for the assessing business through Washington and Kane Counties Utah in the interest of Mohave County Arizona

Samuel Reber’s work on the ditch is progressing very slowly on account of such hard rock to work in, being of the cement form.

Albert Frehner is going to raise chickens. He has just purchased an incubator and has it at work, we hope it will be a success.

Samuel Reber Jr. has just returned from Moapa, NV where he has been for freight for C. M. Petersen.

Frank Reber has just returned home from St. Thomas where he has been teaming for Harry Gentry.

We are having the coldest weather for this time of the year that we have had for some years.

Our district school will close Friday the 19 having had a good term this winter.

Samuel Reber Sr. is hauling rock to build a large granary.
