Per Travis Lingenfelter:
The ARPA funds were ineligible to be used on local roadway projects under the U.S. Treasury’s interim guidance and rules, only water and broadband were allowed for physical infrastructure projects.
In late February, the U.S. Treasury issued final guidance and rules that are set to go into effect in April 2022. Under the final guidance and rules, they have widened allowable uses in certain categories. For instance, local roadways will be allowed in addition to water and broadband infrastructure projects under the final rules. Upon learning this, the District 1 Office contacted the project representative for the TA Travel Center, and we negotiated a solution that will bring this roadway up to County standards. Once this work is completed, those of you that are residents of the Jones Flat Area will be able to petition the Mohave County Public Works Department to adopt the improved 1.2 mile stretch of Virgin Acres Boulevard into the County Road Maintenance System to be maintained by the County.

The negotiated public/private agreement between Mohave County District 1 and the new TA travel center was continued to the next agenda on 04-Apr-2022, to all county staff time to clarify one final issue. Thank you all for your patience and for your support as I continue to push this solution forward.
