“Of all the things an emergency dispatcher does throughout the day, answering 911 calls is one of the most important and most frequent.
Dispatchers understand that if you have to call 911 you’re probably having a pretty rough and stressful day, but they still have to ask you questions to get your location and an understanding of what is happening.
As you’re answering questions with one dispatcher, another one is on the radio with police or fire passing the information on to the responding units.
Please be patient with them as they work as a team to get you the help you need as fast as possible. Our dispatchers truly are the best around and will do everything in their power to help you on what could be one of your worst days.”(MPD)
