With more than 300 sunny days per year, Mesquite is the ideal place for outdoor activity. And there is a whole bunch to do, like adventure off-roading, canyoning, exploring national parks, and indoor and outdoor museums.

And of course, there’s the golf. It’s one of the main attractions of the area, so no matter what your skill level, there’s a beautiful experience waiting for you on any one of the courses throughout mesquite.

The Mesquite population is crazy about the sport. Here’s why Mesquite is the perfect place for golf lovers to spend time… Pretty much any time of the year.

Oasis In The Desert

There’s something special about the beautiful green expanse of a golf course in the middle of a desert landscape. Golf courses are designed to be oases of tranquility, often complete with spectacular natural scenery and sometimes even local wildlife.

If you’re looking for a little bit of living, breathing, green paradise amidst the otherwise dry desert, the golf course is the perfect place to find peace with a bit of lovely color thrown into the mix.

The desert has its own allure, it’s true. But when you just need that bit of an oasis, a bit of color, a bit of greenery… The golf course is ready and waiting to welcome you to its lush haven.

An Abundance of Beautiful Golf Courses

Mesquite is home to 8 spectacular golf courses, which means there’s plenty of opportunity for golfers of all skill levels.

The courses share a variety of desert features, including being surrounded by dunes, mesas, and rocky outcrops, a sparse scattering of trees and desert plants, wide-open spaces, and expansive views.

As with all such wide-open courses, the wind can wreak havoc on even the best-hit shots. You’ll need all your wits about you when playing on these courses, but the test is as exciting as it is challenging!

Wolf Creek Golf Club is one of the tops in the area. Starting with a majestic elevated tee overlooking a drop into a valley below, it offers a glimpse of what to expect as you go through the full course.

It’s often mentioned as a favorite, and is regularly regarded by golfing authorities as being of the same caliber as top courses like Pebble Beach and Bandon Dunes!

The Palms Golf Club offers a relaxed feel with wide fairways hugged by palm trees and some exciting water features that could make or break your round. The front and back nine could very well be from two different courses, but there’s a wonderful blend of excellent golf and stunning views here.

The rest of them—Oasis Golf Club, Falcon Ridge Golf Course, Coyote Willows Golf Course, The Coyote Springs Golf Club, Conestoga Golf Course, and CasaBlanca Golf Club—are just as stunning in scenery and provide an equally exciting challenge for golfers.

Something for Every Golfer

Whether you’re a beginner or you’ve been playing golf for years, there’s something here for you to enjoy. Want to just hit a few balls on the practice range? You can do that almost anywhere, with a spectacular view.

As mentioned, there are a number of beautiful golf courses to play a full round on, and you can play them multiple times and still be challenged with every new round.

But whatever your experience or skill level, there’s a variety of fun competitive events that you can take part in in the region.

Wolf Creek has their “Tame the Wolf” event and the Mesquite Open, Casablanca hosts the Armed Forces Day Golf Tournament and the Red, White, and Blue Golf Classic, and the others all offer charity tournaments throughout the year.

From newbie to old-hat, whatever kind of golfer you are and whatever kind of golf you enjoy, there’s a competitive tournament for you! The Mesquite Amateur Golf Tournament is the perfect way to start.

Annual Long Drive Competition

We’ll admit it – smashing a seriously long drive down the fairway is one of the most satisfying parts of playing golf. Mesquite also happens to host two Professional Long Drive Association events per year, the PLDA Desert Launch and the Diamond in the Desert event.

While the long drive is a serious sport and crowns champions, the event is open to anyone who meets the requirements. In order to play in the Annual World Championship, you’ll need to compete in a local qualifier and then a regional qualifier.

You will need to be a member of the PLDA to compete in regionals, but if pure power is something you love displaying, this is an event worth working towards!

Of course, if you aren’t into driving big yourself, it can be an enormously fun challenge to watch from the crowd.

The Stunning Weather

As we mentioned before, Mesquite has more than 300 sunny days per year. You can’t play golf in rain or snow, and it may be a little less pleasant to play it in the cold, so what better place for year-round golf experiences?

Summer, winter, spring, and fall, you’ll have lovely weather to compliment your round of golf whenever you decide to hit the course.

Still, wondering why Mesquite is the perfect place for golf lovers? Between the fine weather and the desert scenery, it’s a great spot for an oasis of a golf course to add some life to the surroundings.

Whether you live in the area or you’re stopping by for a visit or for business, it’s well worth taking a few hours out of your day and getting in a round of golf.

If you are a resident and you haven’t had the pleasure of partaking in the golf scene yet, you’re missing out! There’s truly something for every kind of golfer here, from beginners to pros looking for something exciting.
