They say “perception is reality.” If you’re a kid, you perceive this summer was way too short. If you’re a parent, you probably think summer break was way too long, and you’ve been ready to send the kids back to school since June 1. 😂 No matter your perception, the reality is that school starts for Mesquite students this coming Monday, August 8th, and speeding in school zones is unacceptable.
The school zones will be active when the yellow lights are flashing during the following times:
📍 Mesquite Blvd – 25 mph 7:30-9:15 am and 2:30-4:00 pm
📍 Sandhill Blvd – 25 mph 7:45-9:15 am and 3:00-4:00 pm
📍 Woodbury Ln in front of VVES – 15 mph 8:30 am-3:30 pm
📍 Hafen Ln – 15 mph 7:00-7:45 am and 1:40-2:10 pm
Also, If you haven’t met them, we want to introduce Mesquite PD Crossing Guards returning for this school year; Jeff, Lori, and John (pictured from left to right). They will be stationed at the crosswalks at Grapevine and Hafen, Thistle and Mesquite Blvd, and Sandhill and Old Mill Rd in the mornings and afternoons. Our Watchdog Volunteers Larry and Wes will also be out in front of VVES every morning.
PLEASE follow their instructions as they help the children get to school safely.
