RENO, Nev. — Lieutenant Governor Lisa Cano Burkhead will continue celebrating the start of the 2022-23 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 16, with a visit to Galena High School in Reno, where she will be greeting students as they arrive for class and delivering donuts to staff.
“The first day of school is always exciting, but students and educators work hard every day of the school year and they deserve to be celebrated as often as possible,” Lieutenant Governor Lisa Cano Burkhead said. “I’m excited to see the students and staff of Galena High School tomorrow morning.”
There will be opportunities for photo and b-roll, and time for media availability after the event at approximately 8 a.m.

About Lieutenant Governor Lisa Cano Burkhead
Lisa Cano Burkhead is a first-generation Latina, the daughter of immigrant parents from South America who came to Las Vegas to find the American Dream. A lifelong educator, she spent 25 years working in Nevada public schools, first as a Spanish and English teacher and later as an administrator and principal.
As Lieutenant Governor, she is an advocate for the needs of public education and uses her position and platform to uplift the voices of students, educators and parents.
