We Care for Animals featured pet is Gerti.

Gerti (short for Gertrude!) is the most precious 8lb poodle you’ve ever met! She’s 12-14 years old (yay, waaaaay out of the obnoxious puppy phase!). Totally potty trained. No barking. When her foster mom leaves for work, she just curls up on the couch or a dog bed and naps (her foster mom spies with a doggie cam!), she has no problems being left alone. She’s missing an eye (she makes a fantastic pirate at Halloween!), but still has vision in the other. She gets around just fine, jumps up on her foster mom’s bed and furniture without any issues. She will eventually lose sight in the eye, but for now, it doesn’t cause her any issues. She doesn’t have ANY teeth (think of the savings, doggie dental cleanings are expensive, so she’s really helping with your budget!). It doesn’t cause her any issues, she eats without any problems. So… her tongue hangs out ALL the time, and who can look at that without smiling? She’s a constant source of happiness! Gerti gets along with other dogs! Gerti gets along with everyone, she’s super sweet and friendly, and everyone who meets her falls in love! She spends most of her day napping, but occasionally gets a short spurt of energy and will do the zoomies with her foster sisters. Gerti was found as a stray, horribly matted. She has scarring on her body that the vet believes is from burns. She was groomed and is looking beautiful! She’s a sweet old lady that would love a home where she could be loved unconditionally for the rest of her time. We have no idea what happened in her past, but she is a happy girl, and deserves to know nothing but kindness from now on! Gerti’s adoption fee is $60. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Adoptable Cats:

Johnny and Ronny have been with us for some time.  Please come by and see these two wonderful cats. They are sweet and playful 7 month old kittens who have acclimated well in their foster home. They are ready for new homes. Both kittens are neutered and chipped and have received their initial vaccines.  If you like orange, these are the kittens for you.  They are bonded so we would like them to go together.  Through the end of December these kittens can be adopted at a two for one price of $75.  All other requirements such as a home check, still apply.

SPAy/Neuter Assistance

WCFA offers low-cost spay/neuter assistance for very limited income pet owners in Mesquite, Bunkerville and the Arizona Strip and we also offer TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) for community (feral) cats.  Spay/neuter applications are available at Mesquite Veterinary Clinic located at 371 Riverside Road and at Virgin Valley Veterinary Hospital at 660 Hardy Way, Suite 44.  You may also call WCFA at 702-346-3326 to leave a message or visit wecareforanimals.org to contact us by email.  Spay/neuter is a health benefit to your pet and prevents accidental litters that overburden shelters and rescues.

Fostering Saves Lives

Fostering is a commitment to save homeless pets.  Fosters provide a safe haven for a cat or dog until it is adopted.  Sharing foster responsibilities with another foster is also an option.  Fostering could be one of the most rewarding experiences for you.  To express interest in fostering, please complete our online foster application at wecareforanimals.org.
