WE CARE FOR ANIMALS featured pet is Crosby: Crosby was recently pulled from A.F. in Las Vegas… they had his breed listed as Glen of Imaal and Cairn… but think he is Poodle/Coton…nonetheless, he is a larger boy…23 lbs with a soft somewhat wire haired coat… seems to be low to non-shedding, but will need regular grooming. Crosby has the cutest underbite! He is neutered & chipped; scheduled for grooming Feb 1 and a dental on Feb. 9. He is 7 years old but very active and agile; will need daily walks and a fenced yard is a must. He rides well in the car. He has been very happy to meet other dogs… and loves all people he meets. Crosby is a great sleeper and sleeps right through the night!

Our next pet adoption is February 4, 2023 at Suite 1, 150 North Yucca from 9 to 11. Until then you can contact us to schedule a time to meet any of our pets at a convenient time. By clicking on the individual pet links, you will be able to read a bio for each pet and other pertinent information. All of our pets are (or will be) spayed or neutered, current on vaccines and microchipped. adoptable Dogs:
Handsome Doogie available for adoption through We Care for Animals in Mesquite NV. Please note that we strive to find the best fit for our adoptable pets and prospective adopters. Therefore, we request that anyone interested in Doogie to please complete our online adoption application at wecareforanimals.org. Doogie was found as an emaciated stray. He gained weight while at a shelter and, when he came to us, he weighed 11.4 lbs. He now weighs 12.6 lbs. Doogie is a Dachshund mix, approximately 3-4 years old, neutered, current on vaccines and chipped. He loves being with people and is a snuggle bug! While Doogie may be shy at first and bark when first meeting you, he is actually a very sweet and loving little dog. Doogie is housetrained with a dog door. He can do well as an only dog with someone who is at home most of the time. Otherwise, it would be better if he had another small compatible dog(s) for company. If you are gone most of the day, even with a doggie companion, Doogie is not the dog for you. His first love is people!
Drum roll please. Introducing: PEPPA This loving little 12 pound lap sitter is looking for a family. She is working on not shying away from people reaching for her when they are standing. She would love to have another dog but is nervous around dogs as big as a German Shepherd. She likes walks and car rides. She is housebroken with supervision. Peppa is in foster care and will be available for adoption after she is spayed later in January. However don’t wait too long to put in your application as she won’t last long. Young children need not apply. Latency aged and teen kids would be fine. An application to adopt can be found at http://www.wecareforanimals.org. After receiving your completed application, the foster parent will contact you. Even though a family may be selected before she is spayed, she will remain in care until after that time.
Goldie is a Chihuahua mix and is about 5-6 years old. She was found as a stray but was obviously someone’s pet at one time. She was not claimed so WCFA took her in. Goldie has been spayed and received her vaccines. She had a dental and was micro chipped January 9th. Goldie is house trained, knows a dog door and needs to lose some weight. She loves going for walks and is pretty fast running around the yard. She is a sweet girl who would prefer a family where someone is home most of the time. She will be your shadow. Goldie is a very affectionate little girl once she is comfortable in her surroundings. She will bark at new people but quickly settles down. No small children for this girl.
SPAy/Neuter Assistance
WCFA offers low-cost spay/neuter assistance for very limited income pet owners in Mesquite, Bunkerville and the Arizona Strip and we also offer TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) for community (feral) cats. Spay/neuter applications are available at Mesquite Veterinary Clinic located at 371 Riverside Road and at Virgin Valley Veterinary Hospital at 660 Hardy Way, Suite 44. Spay/neuter is a health benefit to your pet and prevents accidental litters that overburden shelters and rescues.
Fostering Saves Lives
Fostering is a commitment to save homeless pets. Fosters provide a safe haven for a cat or dog until it is adopted. Sharing foster responsibilities with another foster is also an option.
